Amanda's mom wanted a simple but welcoming room that truly depicted her daughter's interests: basketball, reading, girl scouts and flute playing. Since she wanted me to paint the entire room in shades of seafoam green and sky blue, she needed the artwork to be affordable. We opted for a version of the common "stick figure" for three walls -- a girl playing the flute, a girl playing basketball, and a girlscout in uniform. The fourth wall frames her bed and is the first wall that a visitor sees when entering the room. This "reading" girl is a little more than a stick figure, but still encompasses the cartoon-like style of the other walls. To add a little bit of character, the girls are clothed with "jean" material that is actually scrapbook paper, cut and pasted to the wall.
