Scottish/Welsh Relief work on Fireplace

By: Joyce Hutchinson  of  Decorative and Fine Artist

Each blue section of these panels were painted in a Trompe L`Oeil style to look three dimensional but when you touch them they are flat. Many have been in disbelief and have had to walk over and touch the fireplace to see for themselves. The left side of the murals depicts the Scottish symbols of royalty, country, and flower. Likewise on the right is depicted the Welsh symbols of royalty, country, and flower. Because this client has ancestory that dates way back they herald this work as an heirloom. Across the top is a Celtic tying together of the nationalities into family with the Tree of Life theme and an urn as the heart of the bloodline.
