Description of Coastal/Nautical Murals

A coastal or nautical mural can focus on the seascape and shoreline, as well as depict a seafaring vessel. A popular image is an old ship at sea, creating a sense of mystery, the romance of travel to exotic places. A coastline/seascape is commonly painted in panoramic format, and is a successful addition to a hallway or corridor. Coastline/nautical murals were extremely popular for exteriors of buildings of coastal communities, particularly in the 70's and 80's, portraying whales, dolphins and other creatures of the sea.
