At this stage in my life I prefer to paint on tiles or china or canvas or anything that does not require loading all of my paints up and inevitably forgetting something essential to the project and paint in someone's house. Don't get me wrong....I love to paint murals more than anything but now that I am getting older or more mature I guess I just enjoy staying home to paint and deliver the final product to you. As far as subject matter, I am really flexible.........it is always a new challenge and I love a challenge!!!!!!!!!!!
I started painting and drawing and writing on the walls at the age of about 8 or 9 when I took my first art lesson from Mrs. Loretta Shippanski (sp?) with both my brother and sister. I was the only one who seemed to love it and should have persued at an earlier age. I took art in school which never really challenged me much. Won lot of awards and even wanted to major in Art my first year at Baylor University. Loved learning how to figure draw under a minute. Anyway, I was a volleyball player and didn't have time to commit to painting or developing that God given talent until about 8 years ago when I started painting murals on the weekends for some extra cash to help raise my son. Oh, I did take some china painting lessons a couple of times along the way and respect that media the most! This last year is when I found my nitch painting on tumbled marble tiles for backslashes in kitchens and bathrooms. I quit the Real Estate title closing business and all the stress that went with it to try to start my own business. So far it is picking up and I am very thankful for all the talent that God has blessed me with and pray that I can continue for many years to come. God willing!!!!???
My Education:
Took childhood private lessons at the age of 9.
When I was 18 and getting ready to go off to college an eighty year old wonderful woman taught me how to china paint. Took art throughout high school for easy "A". Studied art my first year at Baylor University and 2nd year at University of Texas at Arlington. After that I tried just about every other degree plan but always came back to Art when my grade point needed a little boost as well as my spitit which yearns for the peace that painting gives to me. I am now 47 years old and decided to try to make a living with the talent that God blessed me with and probably intended for me to use years ago. So far so good and loving all the new challenges it brings with being self employed.
