I really enjoy it when the client gives me a subject and mood, then allows me to delve into the fantasy and design that will bring about a painting that both the client and myself will be delighted with.
I love a challenge, it is what expands our imagination and test our skills.
My dad is an artist/illustrator/cartoonist. I have been drawing since I was a kid. As an adult, after periods of pen and ink and some acrylic painting, I decided to try the airbrush.
It was love at first spray! Since that time I have been tutored by some of the world's finest airbrush artist.
My Education:
My tutoring came from people like Gieger (all the artwork for the movie Alien. etc.) and the many greats that have given seminars and private lessons.
But, I find that teachers, no matter how great they are can really only teach their techniques. The talent and the thousands of hours of actually applying this to my own concepts and imaginings are your true masters.
I actually had to quit my good job as a master plumber to handle the murals and paintings that keep coming in.
I look at it this way, as long as my customers continue to demand my work, I'll never have to pick up another wrench or show my butt crack, while bending to tighten a fitting again.
I'm a lucky guy to be able to make a living pursuing my dream!
