I love painting all kinds of murals. From a bright cartoon style to landscapes to trompe l'oeil realism. I love cloud ceilings and magical children's rooms. The variety is part of the fun for me.
For an online portfolio, please look at my website www.sigmufi.com. The business name is Signature Mural & Finish, Inc.
In addition to murals, I love creating faux finishes, stencil work, wood graining and working with Italian plasters.
I come from a Fine Arts background. I began as an Art Historian. I have a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MA from Middlebury, Vermont & Paris. I spent three years in Paris where I took classes at Ecole du Louvre and worked at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. I have studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and in private studios of practicing artists. I have also trained at several prominent faux finishing schools.
For years I worked exclusively as a studio artist. My focus was realism. I was also raising two kids (now 11 & 14). Several years ago I was asked to create a series of kid's murals at Lincolnwood School in Evanston, Illinois. I was hooked. I love painting in a variety of styles and the challenge of creating something different to suit the needs of each client.
In January 2006 I took my first faux finishing class, and formed my business, Signature Mural & Finish, Inc.
In October 2006 I hired Paula Clayton. Paula is a designer, painter, and all-around creative hurricane from New Zealand. In 2001 she received a BFA in painting from Western Michigan University, and she also has a Certificate in Craft Design in bone carving (!) from Whitireia Community Polytechnic in New Zealand. She is an accomplished artist who paints murals of exceptional quality in a wide range of styles.
