My Biography:
Four years ago, in 2004, I came to the U.S.A. from Ukraine in search of better life. I didn’t speak English, I didn’t have any American education which could help me to find a good job, and I didn’t know nobody who could give me a good advice. It seemed I get on the uninhabited island. One day, I understood I have to help myself to build a better life. Nobody will ever help me in that if I don’t want to.
I started to take ESL classes in Norwalk Community College. It was my first goal to learn English language, because without it you are “nobody”. My logic was very simple. You can live here, but you have a chance to finish your career like a worker of cleaning service with “Windex” and a vacuum. I didn’t want this perspective, so I started a fight for a better life.
It passed four years since that moment. Now I can say it was the most difficult years in my life. Today I am a student of Bachelor of General Studies in University of Connecticut. Also, I build my website and open up to the public my biggest passion - Art, whose roots started long, long time ago.
My granddad was an art teacher in local school. All people around knew that he is a good craftsman and painter. All his knowledge he gave to sun Nicolas, my dad. Since my early childhood I was watching dad’s painting. It was like magic for me. I couldn’t realize how he can paint such the beautiful pictures. In those moments I dreamed about times when I will paint like my dad. Every day I was taking a pencil and practicing. The years of hard work taught me of Art where granddad and dad were my best teachers.
In 1996 I finished Pedagogical College where I used to learn art and methods of art teaching. After that was Ternopil State Pedagogical University. Finally I didn’t take a special art education, but after many years, today, I understood it is nothing more important for me than Art.
I continue the traditions of my family. When my soul is full of emotions, I take a brush and start to paint. I see in this painting myself. Sometimes I can find the connection with granddad or dad in it. I can find here my past and my future. I see in Art my Life…
