I especially love to paint Trompe-l'œil and Western Historical subjects. People machinery, old cars, trucks, planes, wagons and motorcycles are exciting projects for me.
I am delighted to interpret a client’s vision into a mural where before there was only an ordinary wall.

My Biography:
Lee Bowerman is a visionary as he looks at blank walls and sees possibilities. A wine cellar with rows of barrels, receding into the darkness, the ruins of an old mansion with the ghost image of the husband and wife, the dramatic moment when the Great Race passed through Tonopah Nevada in 1908. Legendary Johnny Cash with the “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” and magnificent John Wayne captured in acrylics.
Lee was born in 1943 in San Diego California, was raised by gypsy grandparents, he was enrolled in twenty schools in the first eight years of school.
His love of history is reflected in many of his paintings and murals.
While Lee was stationed on a Nike missile base in Germany during the cold war, he studied under Norman Rockwell, Albert Dorn, and others by correspondence via the Famous Artists School. After discharge in 1963, and a couple of years of bumming around the US; he returned to Grand Junction and entered Mesa College to study art and psychology on the GI Bill. He then moved to the Rocky Mountain School of Art in Denver where he studied and taught for the next several years. While painting signs and doing commercial art in Denver,he served several ad agencies and other clients including, Gates, Jet-X, and Frontier Airlines.
Lee finally left the commercial art business to pursue fine art. After several attempts, he found his niche. That was a balance of murals and easel paintings. This gave him the right combination of indoor-outdoor, travel, and a variety of subject matter which keeps him stimulated and challenged.
Slowly, advertising and commercial art gave way to creating murals. At global gatherings of muralists, Lee began meeting his peers in Nevada and California. Depicting the history of Tonopah, Nevada in three major murals has rewarded Lee through combining his love for history and painting murals.
