I was trained in painting in oils in the Old Master's styles, but have since expanded to abstract expressionism and many others styles as well. By the way, my way of approaching murals is to meet with you, then proceed with preliminary sketches done by computer and emailed to you. These preliminary images can be "applied" to a photo image of your wall, so you have a good idea how the final art will look on your actual wall and in your home. After we have figured out the composition and colors, I transfer a line version of the art onto your wall and paint it there. This assures you of getting the art you expect very accurately and quickly.

Another option is to do the painting on canvas and have the canvas applied to your wall area like wallpaper. This is a very common technique and saves your house from a lot of disruption. Some prefer to have the painting done directly on the wall, but in reality hardly anyone would know if it were first done on canvas and applied. That is, unless the wall has a distinct texture- then painting directly on the wall may be necessary.
